So my dad had a quadruple bypass on his heart several years ago and the doctors wanted to pump him with all these medications. Instead, he switched to an all plant based diet and has never felt more incredible. He has achieved the same results as many of my Friends that are all beef. He has significantly gained muscle mass and has been able to do things physically that he hasn’t been able to do in years.

Is one better than the other? Does it depend on our ancestor body type? Thoughts? 🤔

Could be genetics, but I’d also speculate that any very intentional diet likely results in overall better food choices. I’m guessing his plant based diet wasn’t mostly potato chips and corn puffs?

Lol, no.. all natural raw vegetables, no seed oils, etc. completely new lifestyle.

as natural as possible.

I think a „mixed“ nutrition is probably superior or mostly advantageous for the majority of people.

I wouldn’t be too strict in either direction, but pay attention to avoid sugar and processed foods, as well as seed oils.

Plant based is nothing bad - the contrary.

At the same time, we need #Cholin (best source: eggs) or #Leucin (Amino accid), which is best from animal sources/red meat…

It’s an incredible complex field, but probably your dad has done many things right 🙏🏽

Awesome!! It has always intrigued me. I could never give up raw veggies, it’s my favorite food.

Which plant diet? Sounds interesting…..

He said he followed this book to the T.

Will check it

Congrats to your dad. Given the fad-driven, contradictory, ever-shifting and historically corrupt state of nutrition “science”, one’s most rational option seems like trying different approaches to see what works for oneself.

Couldn’t agree more.

Another example is the mainstream, NYT-type dismissal of supplements as “lacking evidence.” OK, except I’ve had dramatically good results for my lifelong borderline triglycerides levels by consuming a turmeric supplement daily. And when I started taking a One-A-Day multivitamin 30 years ago, two warts on my hands went away forever. So I’ve learned to experiment, within reason.

I would check how happy was the thing you eat. Did it have a happy life, or did humans torture it? This happens to plants too. Plants grown in monoculture farms, sprayed, ... are not happy!
