Conversation these days is trying to determine if someone has a real opinion or if they are just triggered.

You think you’re better than me?

And whether someone has a real opinion or if they are just letting an LLM think for them.

You think the NTY's' language model is large?

it can be quite the dance

conversation these days results in a lot of psychological projection AKA assuming/inventing that people mean something or have some subtext that isn't there.

Dōgen called it leaking. He means that rather than hearing, seeing and receiving inputs and information from the world the person is adding their own spin to everything and is coming from a place (in their mind) that has already decided.

hint: when you project, you are telling the person you project onto exactly how you think and more often than not, it has nothing to do with what the person you project onto is intending.

people who project are easy to win arguments with because they play the game with their hand showing, and they do so willfully

asking people questions rather than assuming and inventing meanings is the antidote.

just sayin'

#wisdom

Most folks are like wound up toys in a bustling toy shop...moving on a preset path before being wound up again and set on a different path.

Opinions are generated on-the-fly through a mix of external programming and limited self-adjustment.

If you want to know if someone has a real opinion, ask them how they came to a certain conclusion or ask them to explain why they hold that particular view.

If they look like they just loaded a "404 Not Found" error, it's not a real human you're trying to connect with. Abort.

Else, keep that person close. They are a rare gem.

That's a great little hack you got there. I'm going to use it
