The idea is not to prohibit or confiscate only. Imagine if governments could acquire to the point where there was nothing left for the common people! Freedom money exchanged for fiat.

It don't think it is a good idea, they have other way to buy BTC than use gold.
I think the best for a country like US, is to keep both BTC and gold.
Having only BTC is risky for future. Gold can be stolen but it can be hardly protected.
BTC is just a bet on future. with all questions about quantum progress, attack on the network with AI, or just buyer that could silently buy the most "big" miner to control it.
I am not saying it will happen. But a prudent way should be to "don't put all your eggs in one basket", and it is a wise way to keep value, even for state.
