I was thinking about badges vs Poaps as I had immediately related the two.. but there are some differences that are worth mentioning:

- badges is a protocol. it's not owned by anybody .. there is a badges.page but that has no control.. you can create with other clients any badge and that's fine

- are permissionless... as anybody can create a badge

- are non transferrable. it's not a token.. it's something that the owner signed as sent to you so you can't change that and you can't transfer to someone else as that wouldn't contain the creator's valid signature..

how is the accept mechanism?

Not sure what you mean. You may simply don’t want to accept badges that someone you don’t know sent it to you

so they are not permissionless they need to be signed by the receiver?

It’s permission less to create and send

The last point about transferability could change in the future if the protocol updates. Eg: a new event kind that represents a "transfer" pointing to the original issuance and etcétera...

In any case, it's true that they are related concepts. I like the permissionlessness of the Nostr way.

True.. at least for now they can’t be transferred
