Do I really need to add my paid #relays to every #client I use? How come it doesn't broadcast across all clients?

Clients usually read your kind 3 for your relays added.
I don't understand what you said.
What I do know is this: I pay for a relay and add it in a client such as Snort. I then go and look in another client such as Amethyst and it is not there.
Am I doing something wrong or misunderstanding something?
I think snort use kind 10002 to save your relay list, which all the other clients read kind 3. That's why your relay is not in Amethyst.
Where can I learn what "kind 3" means?

There was a 'Post' option in relay list in most clients I were testing. It was saving relay list across other clients.
