“Just hold Bitcoin.” Yeah? Tell that to someone whose bank just froze their account. Preserving wealth matters. But here’s where I disagree: Bitcoin isn’t just a store of value. It’s money. And in the Global South, that’s not a theory. It’s reality. People are escaping capital controls. Sending remittances without banks taking a cut. Transacting daily, not waiting for the perfect exit price. The West debates narratives. The Global South lives them. Some say Bitcoin is only for the long-term. Ask someone who’s had their savings locked overnight if they agree. Ask someone who’s been cut off from their own money if they see #Bitcoin as a “store of value” alone. They don’t just hold it. They use it. Because for the first time in history, we have a monetary asset that’s also a payment network. Would be a shame not to use it to its full extent. Try convincing me otherwise.

Can you show me examples of where bitcoin has been used in "global south"?

I'm not sure this counts from your perspective as a use in the global south, but I'm from N America, but I live in Zambia. I used BTC about 15 minutes ago to move some frunds tonpay rent because I've been having trouble with other systems.
Is bitcoin usage widespread in africa?
Not where I am. It is used for sure, but I wouldn't say it is widespread. I personally know folks that use it for remittance, as a investment/inflatiom hedge, and recieving payment for songs and the like on apps like wavelake. So I know of plenty of examples where it is used bit your average person on the street doesn't use it.
For some Bitcoin is money, for some it is a way to store value, and for some it is both. Most important, it's freedom money and people should stop telling other people how tf they should use it.
Bitcoin is freedom money, yes. But that freedom exists precisely because of its monetary properties, not despite them.
