First summer living with Cicadas and it's been over a month of their noises and I'm about done with them... not the noise they generally make (I still like that noise) but the high pitched one that causes my ears to hurt!
Monsoon season you can start anytime now so they go away!!!

Haha, and then seeing one for the first time too. Ours are white and grey to match the junipers and they are strange looking. We had some that just kept going off this afternoon and I was so done with them. Glad they stop at night here.
Next year we are supposed to have the 17 year emergence. We weren’t living here 17 years ago but I remember the last one well. It was so loud you couldn’t talk outside and there were cicada shells everywhere. We actually haven’t heard any yet this year and usually we hear a few.
I haven't seen any shells yet but they've been making noise since the beginning of May! And flying into our car as we drive down our dirt road...
They are so insane! One of my favorite insects. I can’t wait for my kids to experience it when they are freaking everywhere 😂 my brother and I were little when one happened and we used to build them brick mansions and pour them in with handfuls 😂
