I tried really fucking hard to set up fl studio on linux this weekend (via bottles/wine).

I was almost there, but I couldn't seem to make it fully recognize my interface (usb).

Everything works in Ardour. I learned a bit of that this weekend too. Routing channels is my biggest hangup there.

I guess I thought you should know that.

Whats an fl studio?

Trying to use Linux for anything actually productive in the real world and still have time for other things is what drove me to becoming a Mac user. 😂

Mac is just weaponized BSD.

Just use 2 computers connected via KVM. One with windows and the other with linux. I've had 2 computers for many years. I use the windows for gaming and photoshop and the other Linux for every day use.

I tried install windows programs like photoshop on Linux using wine but always run into problems that it's not worth the headaches. I'm happy now with my 2 computers.

This is the way.

Got my KVM switch hooked up. 💪

Ty for the helpful suggestion.

excellent!

That is the best way to go since most corporate programs are made for windows. I haven't even have a virus in many years since I just use my windows computer for gaming and some only a few software installed compared to when I used windows as my main and only computer. All the viruses are made for windows so using Linux as a main computer for surfing the net and other things keeps our data safe.

I'll continue to use a KVM for many years to come. It's useful.

I kinda can't use Ardour for MIDI work right now due to PipeWire shenanigans.

I have to use Zrythm for any sort of MIDI work.

Oh, and maybe for the interface, you might want to make sure you have WINE ASIO installed on your machine.

Have you updated to the latest pipewire release? I'm very new to Ardour, but it's working for me.

I am on the latest release, but there's a regression where, in Ardour, placing down a MIDI region (because I draw all MIDI patterns) in Draw mode will crash Ardour with a segfault. I posted it over on the Ardour forums, and it was confirmed to be a Pipewire regression.

I see. Ty.

Last time i used wine, I remember having to do something to map my usb.

Can't remember :/ what, though.
