Hi nostr:npub1s6z7hmmx2vud66f3utxd70qem8cwtggx0jgc7gh8pqwz2k8cltuqrdwk4c, was nice briefly meeting you at the conference! Could you perhaps shed some light on this discussion? I thought Bert was aware he was publishing on nostr, but he is actually posting on mastodon and posts seem to get republished through nostr, I'd love to know how that works so I can explain it to people better. Thanks! 🙏 https://www.linkedin.com/posts/peterpeerdeman_whilst-on-the-lookout-for-remedies-against-activity-7247860646250168320-gXZf

Mostr is a piece of software that bridges between ActivityPub (e.g. Mastodon) and Nostr.

There's a public instance at mostr . pub, but it tends to get blocked by Mastodon admins. I run a private instance on my own domain too, but only my own replies on Nostr can cross that bridge.

Philosophically all of Nostr is part of the Fediverse, just like Mastodon instances are.

Yes I like this concept, I would not have discovered the toots if it hadn't been for the bridge. It is too bad fediverse will miss some interactions now because of unawareness, and it might be challenging for people (like me just now 🙈) to distinguish original identities and the replicated fediverse identities.

Thank you, this makes sense to me now 🙏 Keep up the good work!

Where things really get confusing is that nostr users are identified by pubkey, fediverse users by URL. When there's multiple bridges you get an infinite number of permutations, e.g. bridge1.com/npubabc, bridge2.com/npubabc are the same nostr user, and each fediverse user has one npub per bridge. And all can follow and interact:-)

Haha nice, Bert responded (and first time hearing about Nostr)! What nostr:npub1s6z7hmmx2vud66f3utxd70qem8cwtggx0jgc7gh8pqwz2k8cltuqrdwk4c already explained, there are different bridges between Mastodon, Bluesky and Nostr to relay all the content.

Damus shows an ActivityPub tag for bridged posts.
