Cancel culture is just blasphemy laws reconstituting themselves. There's a regression to the mean that will happen in any society that tries to rebel against the norm. The Enlightenment project that is the United States has failed.
So do you remember when the Reddit Exodus happened because the API changes? Well there was this one alternative called squabbles where everybody went to and then a lot of people left after squabbles announced they were a free speech platform. They only have like 10 fucking users now when they had like a shit ton of Reddit users. Anyways I was reading a threat of theirs talking about how they're going to moderate and I thought to myself why don't you just apply the same censorship rules towards leftist that leftist apply towards the right? If they use the word Nazi? Immediate ban. Thank you somebody of being racist? Immediate ban. Talking shit about capitalism and not posting in the political sub? Immediate ban.
Fight Fire with Fire I don't understand
Cancel culture is not used against large people of influence or corporation's as much as it is used against individuals trying to speak out.
The mob effect is real and not good. Also our short term mentality is not helpful and the bad guys know how to navigate this well.
