I don't know if he will finish the trilogy or not, but this Patrick Rothfuss quote is amazing:

"There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man."

I love the framing. Wise men don't fear many things, so what they do fear is high signal. And then that last point- gentle men are known for their diplomacy and agreeableness in all matters; what would make a gentle man angry?

More importantly to make it really hit home, think about your best personal life example of a *specific* gentle man. Your awesome uncle, perhaps. The guy who is literally always chill. The gigachad walking around with his goats and never gets upset.

Or, if you have trouble with a personal example, just picture Mr. Rogers. The quintessential gentle man. Always nice. Neighborly. Who can picture him angry?

And then one day, for the first time you've ever known him, he is fucking furious at something.

That's signal. And truly scary.

What would make a gentle man angry?

I immediately thought of my maternal Grandfather.

A giant of a man. Gentle, softly spoken & very tolerant.

He probably only raised his voice a couple of times but when he did, you paid attention.

The 1 time I can recall, I think I was being a dick to my sister. The change in him was so swift & dramatic, that it terrified me.
