I was thinking about buying one of these but I will I will go with an Antminer S9 instead so I can heat my room during the winter.

I can’t source an S9. The kaboomracks site everyone recommends is disorienting.
I don't know what you mean by legit. You should plug it in and connect to a pool. I think that should tell you if it is truly a miner or not.
Also a used Antminer S9 cost about the same amount as the nerdminer.
