Too many steps, too many probabilities and just doesnt make sense. I think it was a purposeful play. Like constant reminder for everyone when they look at other systems that they are probably set up like that too. Brings things to light, just a hint or icing on the cake.
Well yea, hence the "better for everyone" part. My point is that even if he was looking to get some kind of compensation then doing so under a different identity would preserve his OPSEC and the integrity of the project.
