You missed the point

I don't think he did. Even if it were compromised, someone would notice it and have it reversed in a jiffy.

Plenty of open source is compromised. Being open source isn't a panacea. Yes, it CAN be reversed, but which ten lines in 100,000,000 lines of code introduces a vulnerability?

Ok, go use your closed source phone with known unpatched vulnerabilities then. I'll stick with open source software that maybe has bugs that haven't been found.
