Friendly periodic reminder that you don't need to spend a ton of currency on a hardware wallet.
A good USB (https://amzn.to/44tJrT4) + Tails OS (with Electrum pre-installed) is all you need.

Sorry? This is my first time reading this. Where do I oto read more about the software?
For Tails OS - https://tails.net/
For electrum - https://electrum.org/
Just be aware that electrum has nonstandard passphrase
What does that mean?
Can't find the exact description at the moment but I think it is related to the version system:
https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/seedphrase.html
Practically, if you add the optional passphrase, I've found that it is not readily loaded/swept into a different device/wallet
How resistant is that hardware to physical attackers and preventing PK extraction?
I feel like bitcoin hardware is the last place where you would want yo save a few bucks. I rather sell a few chairs and get a time tested device
application specific* time tested device
IDK but sha256 encryption is pretty good.
If you’re trying to guess a private key from a public key, but it’s different when you have control of the device and have to rely on the hardware to protect the secret. The old Trezors that lacked a secure element are a good example. It’s almost trivial to extract the PK from those if you know what you’re doing
