#survivalfood #elections in addition to rice and beans, are you stocking up some backup in time for the elections? If so, what are your recommended items? I’m starting to add some canned meat, should be able to use by expiration and not complete crap.

Yes, good idea. Your best bet is buy more of the stuff you normally eat. Make a list of everything you eat for a week or two and stock up on a self stable or frozen analog.

Dry corn, squash, potatoes. All keep about a year and are high in calories.

my main food preps are pemmican, butter and canned meat

How do you store butter? Freeze dried or something?

Just frozen, but it keeps for a long time on the counter/shelf if it comes to that

I also have ghee which is totally shelf stable

Good idea

Agree with the above of buying more of what you normally eat. when you go to the store buy one or two extra portions of things that you know your family will eat and will be stable on the shelf or in the freezer. The Costco brand canned chicken is actually really good and very reasonably priced.

Yes, absolutely, I've tripled my pantry over the last couple months. Pro tip, go to food pantries as often as you can. They othen give like $50 worth of food at a time
