Anyone from Bali on #nostr? I keep hearing that it's the best place to settle and enjoy the life.

Extremely overvalued. There other places in the region where life is better. No disrespect to any Indonesians here, but yeah, I'm talking about places *not* in Indonesia.

If you want ULTIMATE value for money, Vietnam or anywhere in The Philippines is the place to goto in the region.

Certain places in the Phils is exactly what I was thinking about. VN no way as long as they remain a communist country. Especially now that they're adopting social control policies straight from the CCP:

Just watch the typhoons.

*Avoids the rainy season😬*.

Have friends who lived there for 6 months and been telling that it’s safe, private schools are great, a lot of people know english, nature, cheap, and investments are pouring in. I need to know more about bitcoin adoption over there šŸ¤”

Funnily enough I'm just wearing this t-shirt. It's an amazing place, cost of living is very low and it's super laid backšŸ‘šŸ».

Yeah that’s what I heard as well

Thailand far better than Indonesia! More open and liberal and Bali is beautiful but overrated. Spent years cruising SE Asia and presently picking Thailand over Indo.

Yeah Thailand seems like interesting as well. Definitely not Bangkok but the other areas I’m looking as well

Yeah like most things very dependant upon ones likes. There’s islands on the west coast near Myanmar like Koh Phayam that take you back forty years, no cars only motor bikes very simple and laid back and then there’s islands like Koh Chang and Koh Samui more tourist based or Ko Phangan which has a bit of everything with some great restaurants and a diverse group of people living there. Mainland also offers a lot the diversity, the freedom and cheaper cost of living in Thailand is hard to beat. Also tax friendly which helps!

I'd avoid religious government countries.

Thailand was my choice too, but warning - Thailand has become much more authoritarian over the last few years. Bank accounts are almost impossible to open, capital controls are limiting (so hold BTC!). There are other changes recently. For example english on labelling for food and pharmaceuticals has disappeared ...

Still, in Asia, I couldn't come up with a better recommendation.

I regret not exploring south america more now.

Agreed 100%

Proposed to my wife on Bali shortly after we both recovered from food poisoning & intestinal worms. When you know, you know.

Protip, don't do mushrooms and then go diving before they're fully out of your system. It's cool but you'll be more air hungry.
