I've used SolarMovie.pe before but tbh I don't really know how it works. It's not great bandwidth but fills in when I don't have something in my library.
Yeah I've been using similar, although some solarmovie sites got taken down, don't show up on Google, and are blocked by my provider. Suppose the link I posted is p much the same but without the search function you get on these other streaming sites.
This looks great for social sharing e.g. here. A "watch together" like you're suggesting would be cool

But yeah, notifications for eg a hashtag like #movienights in this case and other stuff would be great in general on nostr.
you can get most recent movies in HD or 4K on yts.mx and if the movie is old Amazon Prime Video will have it for free.
