Maybe I mean "bitcoin fueled micropayments" then? I didn't realize there was a formalized ruberick around v4v, because it does usually turn out as nostr:npub12262qa4uhw7u8gdwlgmntqtv7aye8vdcmvszkqwgs0zchel6mz7s6cgrkj alludes.
You create something of Value and release it to the world for free with no barriers or limitations and if someone finds Value in it, they can return Value back in the form of Time, Talent or Tressure.
The V4V model was created by nostr:nprofile1qyfhwumn8ghj7mmxve3ksctfdch8qatz9uq3jamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwwdhx7un59eek7cmfv9kz7qgwwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkctcqyzyrl6jvqu0a53qx62mxhcsuk8k673drupvq2rtzq8k0r56edw7rjnvr7kj and John C Dvorak on their Podcast No Agenda. When Adam started podcasting 2.0 and we added lightning to it Bitcoiners started using the term V4V to mean just sending someone sats for something but that just a small piece of it.
Adam and Gigi created value4value.info to help explain this better.
Discussion
Yeah. Most people view v4v as get first pay later.
Which is a horrible model.
but that is the model, you can pay as little or as much as you want when you want. You also have to ask people to support you.
V4V started in the podcasting space so that's where I have the most experience with it. For those that fully embrace it they are putting out 1-3 hour podcast without ads or sponsors and asking listeners to give back how they see fit. This model doesn't work for everything or everyone, but you gain complete freedom and you can't put a price on that.
