i think compersion psychologically plays a part in neoliberal late state capitalism & the emergence of social media
compersion as the feeling of joy for another person's joy, however ephemeral cos this isnt thru direct relating but rather, parasociality. i think its an attempt to resolve some of the cognitive dissonances of witnessing power-to-the-powerful dynamics of the western capitalism mythos in tension with bootstraps & 'hard work is rewarded' talking points
