i think compersion psychologically plays a part in neoliberal late state capitalism & the emergence of social media

compersion as the feeling of joy for another person's joy, however ephemeral cos this isnt thru direct relating but rather, parasociality. "coined by poly communities in the 1990s, the concept has older roots in the Buddhist practice of mudita, or sympathetic joy" according to search engine ai results

i think its an attempt to resolve some of the cognitive dissonances of witnessing power-to-the-powerful dynamics of the western capitalism mythos in tension with bootstraps & 'hard work is rewarded' talking points

simpler answer is explained by prosperity gospel

God is must be rewarding those who are seen to do well

They must be good hardworking brilliant genius people to be so blessed

cos without some logical frame, some purpose or design behind it, & preferably not a logic that if played out will make you sick or murderous, what are we doing on this planet?

all this suffering,

for what?

do not be jealous, do not think it random,

these are the rewards & blessings from heaven on earth for the deserving according to God,

if you work hard, you can be the deserving, too, maybe. until then, esteem your betters as better
