Outside of the courthouse where Maduro is being arraigned today, the Venezuelans are waving a “Trump for King” flag, while the New Yorkers want to see Maduro free.

Couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried.

It seems like you're trying to make it seem like the authorities in Venezuela are the good guys, vs how the protesters are the good guys in the US

But I assume we probably shouldn't recognize either country's authorities

Not trying to do anything. Just acknowledging how strange the situation is.

That's true

Guess it's more of the overall spread of that talking point that seems designed to make it seem a certain way

The duality of man

From what I've seen its mainly the diaspora that supports US military intervention, while the majority of Venezuelans who actually live in venezuela are against it

Speaks volumes to humanity

Based on the people I’ve spoken with in Venezuela, this is about right.

For what it’s worth, the Venezuelan woman sitting behind me in the courtroom was quietly cheering for Maduro as he spoke.

Maduro was quite stoic as he addressed the courtroom.

He introduced himself as “Nicolas Maduro Moros, the president of the Republic of Venezuela,” adding that he’d been kidnapped/captured (“sequestrado”) and that he is a prisoner of war.

He was poised and lacked emotion as he said this.

So the question is , which group has the right information?

I don’t think it’s a matter of that. The bigger point is that Venezuelans are entitled to feel happy that someone who has destroyed the lives of almost everyone in the country is now no longer in charge without people who have no idea what the situation on the ground was like telling them otherwise.

Right, it’s like telling somebody what’s happening in their house that you don’t live in. I like to think that most humans are inherently good people so when we reach differences of opinions a lot of times it has to do with what information we have to make those decisions.

Very well put. For the reason you just explained, I recommend that people simply allow Venezuelans to feel the way they want to feel right now.

Brought in Maduro to be the NY mayor

😂

Fuck neoyorkinos

😂

Including me???

Same bullshit in the UK. Waiting for all the Venezuelan flags to appear on profiles.

couple of hundred people from 1.1 million Venezuelans living in USA and of course if they are all Venezuelans which I have doubts. pretty lame support IMHO.

Sure. I think you’re missing the bigger picture, though, which is that it’s quite audacious for Americans to be calling for a dictator to be reinstated while the people living under that dictator celebrate his removal.

I don't think it is missing the bigger picture questioning the people celebrating the invasion of their own country. It is one thing to celebrate removal of a dictator after fighting for it, it is another thing to celebrate USA doing it for you. I know majority does not read history, but I think everyone in the planet saw the examples of Iraq or Syria or Libya. after those cases if they still celebrate US intervention & believe that it will benefit their country I have nothing to say other than enjoy the future awaits for you.

Point taken. Thanks for sharing.
