Deleted Signal and Telegram recently. Open source, p2p or nothing at this point.
And having your cellphone tied to your encrypted messaging app is going to feel really short sighted when encryption is outlawed.
For those who think the forced attribution is bad now... just wait, it's going to get worse.

When Moxie was at the helm, he'd ocassionaly reapond to privacy advocates with how easy it would be to support usernames, and the protocol supports it, and that anyone could run their own Signal server that used usernames instead of phone numbers. Later he alluded to them working on it.
Here's Moxie saying "real soon now" which is the only category sooner than "on the roadmap" according to him.
