Always admired Jack and his businesses so when i saw his tweet about Nostr I made a account because I was already tired of Elon and the toxic folk on Twitter plus Mastodon as a alternative was bleh

I'm glad to have you over here. We still have a bunch of Stackchain friends that haven't been able to swallow the purple pill yet. They need our help.

It's not about feeling welcomed, it's more about functionality. Massively long threads don't play nicely on most clients. Stackchain is the longest running thread on Twitter consisting of Bitcoin buy screenshots.
Most just don’t want to abandon what twoter has graciously allowed to remain of The Stackchain™️. I think it will take a complete import of the chain over to nostr which doesn’t sound feasible to me at this stage but idk

I don't know. I'm interested in Nostr as a developer. There were several who brought it to my attention. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I heard #[2] talking about Nostr on a podcast.
I got on Damus and was stuck in global - not fun. I had to hand copy Jeff’s npub because Twitter wouldn’t let me copy it from his profile. I will always hate them for that dick move.
It worked! I found Jeff and followed him. He immediately followed me back and suggested I setup a lnurl for zaps. ⚡️ I did and he zapped me 5,000 sats. I was hooked.
I deleted Twitter about a week later. And I’ll NEVER EVER go back.
Now I pay it forward in the same way:

I saw something on Twitter about it just before Christmas last year and and decided to give it try. I found a bunch of amazing people here and stayed! 🫂💜

I would say #[2] because I saw 👀 be of his tweets back then and I said I have to check out what this Nostr was about. Now I fricking love it here and yes I’ve deleted that tweety 🐥 bird account. Today marks 35 days #plebchain

No one in general. Watching other social medias get taken over by suspend happy AI bots started me down the path a year ago. The mood on them got me more serious the end of last year.
I heard that #[2] had started funding development of a decentralized messaging system (that wasn’t Blue Sky), and I already knew who #[3] was because I’d been using the Lightning Network for a couple of years. I tried creating an account on astral.ninja but it was too hard to figure out how it worked. Later, I saw that an iOS app called #[4] was in development so I signed up for the TestFlight.
This was around the same time I had already decided to leave Twitter, and I had started exploring Mastodon, but didn’t find any community there. The conversations were dull and there was no engagement, so I never put any energy toward using it.
After couple of weeks, I fired up an early build of Damus and saw how seamlessly Lightning was integrated (well over a month before Zap Day) and l fell in love with the concept. It was also a huge plus that everyone seemed so excited to be here.
Everything fell into place after that.
I also really need to give some credit to #[6] for being one of the first people to welcome me here. I was still on the fence because I thought the technology was still a bit too undeveloped for me to put time and effort into using Nostr, but his cringeworthy humor and pre-zap Lightning games made the early days a lot of fun. We never would have had the 2008.jpeg meme if that hadn’t happened!
