NOSTR has single-handedly set Bitcoin Pleb adoption back several years

Solely interacting with other Bitcoiners does NOTHING FOR ADOPTION

Ironically, I saw this on Twitter and made me follow you back here

aaaaaand ....

Chewy, you're wrong, GFY. No one ever saw a meme on Twitter and thought "you know what, I need to buy their Internet money" however I know people that came to Nostr for freedom to communicate and ended up looking into the freedom to transact. You should consider using Nostr more. You'll love it.

I became a bitcoiner thanks to Nostr, totally skipping any shitcoining.

GFY

Ironoc to post this on nostr.

Fiat and government doing fiat and government things are all Bitcoin and nostr need for advertising.

The best companies, the best products... DO NOT ADVERTISE because they don't have to.

What do you do for adoption sensei?

GFY

I recently concluded that my expectations for Nostr are wrong (and those overhyping it aren't helping).

Nostr is still in it's first "cycle." And to be fair, I've watched it improve a lot. Nostr use and adoption will probably have some milestones over years. I predict at least 10 as of now. It is just going to be an echo chamber in the earlier years. You can't escape that, and life is easier if you don't try. The big names in the space pushing it as if it's ready right now are just wrong.

Nostr sucks to use, and I'm a highly technical user. Most of the people defending it are just blinded to that because they either work on it or are technical enough to work around issues most people will not deal with. Forms of bias. Even I do this to an extent, but that's why I thought deeply about it.

Just enjoy it as it is and keep using the centralized platforms IF that's for you. It's all good. I'm Nostr only now, but honestly, I wanted to delete all of it anyway and would have. I'm just here to try and help a better world come to fruition. It is an echo chamber. It's a massive circle jerk. But I don't think it will be forever, just as Bitcoin is expanding now. That took 15 years though. Peace.

On a side note, I don't think the point of Nostr should be to grow Bitcoin adoption. They are highly ideologically compatible (and technically these days), but I don't really push it from that angle anymore. It solves a unique problem on it's own. Bitcoin integration will likely be important, of course, but I don't think that's the base case for Nostr. I more often find myself encountering problems on YouTube (would be others if I used them) and thinking "wow, Nostr could solve this soon." That would be true whether Bitcoin was involved or not, but it helps when monetization is involved.

Arguing with NPCs on Twitter doesn't do shit either tbh

Adoption mostly comes from ngu
