You know, I go back and forth on this, but there's something fun about it. Something accretive to community. Many of us starve for community, building something for the future, and sometimes these little things help that. like "Hello!" or "how's it going" or "how's tricks" etc, these weird things that we say to eachother that no longer mean what they meant but we use to say to eachother "yes we indeed share a collective past" but today, the past is too short a time ago and its weird, but one day we'll say "hows laura?" meaning"shit really worked out, how did she handle the news?" lol
