Oh I get that! Was doing long distance with only a satellite phone I could use weekly. I was young too - had to beg myself to go exploring on my own. It was a formative part of my willingness to be out with little supports.
Now, just a comment… $1200 would get ya over to explore things over in Newfoundland. 😆
No kidding. I wonder what difference in distances is? That price is also with 2-3 connections and usually a layover. Every time i've gone, with time change and delays, it's taken me over 20 hours to get back home XD. It's rough.

It’s hard to get here. I do the multi connections to basically anywhere. they have recently put in direct flights to Europe, so things are opening up!
