Nobody was arrested on Jan 6.

Does it make up for things, a little that people have been tracked down & charged? Yes-- but if there had been mass arrests that day a lot of people would have been swept up who didn't personally attack anyone or break anything.

Since the arrests are based on video, targeting the people who took the most violent actions, 100s of people were able to walk away.

That's fine IMO... except it's *not* how things "normally" work when crowd gets out of control.

It's perfectly typical for people to get arrested, or at least detained simply for being in the area where far less violent or consequential protests have occurred.

Same in Canada. Ottawa was occupied by an unhinged right-wing mob, police sat on their hands for three weeks. On the other hand, striking union members, all local residents, got ticketed immediately for cooking hotdogs.
