Tomorrow I travel 70 miles on my chest, a bike seat and my feet.

Given my broken foot this summer and a bastard plantar fasciitis, the plan is to

Hammer the swim 🏊‍♂️

Pound the bike 🚲

Jog walk the run 💨

Conditions are sunny and windy (classic portugal)

It is my last “simulation” before I attempt a full iron man

Proud of myself.

Completed the full triathlon yesterday in a decent enough time.

I could have pushed the swim harder but the Australian thing where you go in and out the water segment totally goosed me.

Swallowed loads of water and took an elbow to the neck straight after lol.

I pushed the bike a bit too hard but I wanted to - and it was fun! Cruising at 45km/h+ with the tailwind section was a rush.

I went easy on the run to protect my foot. It gave me grief after10km so I popped a painkiller and cracked on.

I reckon I will just have to dig deep and grind out the iron man marathon segment in 3 weeks.

Kinda terrified, kinda excited.

Primal is not letting me upload photos rn but I did the full 100km in 4 hours 16

Then upload video

Congrats Joe! That is awesome! If I had one piece of advice to give, don’t push the Ironman bike. Save the push for the last 10km of the marathon. Good luck!

Silly primal.

And that’s badass. I did a full Ironman once by myself with Strava. That was the end of my endurance feats. Always feels good to accomplish things you previously thought were impossible

I did it in my home town. I did the swim in Newport harbor. Biked down to San Diego. Had some extra miles to bike so I went in circles around a mall. Then did the run in circles around the mall. What a day.
