Surely the future for open protocols can’t just get to this and end….how many people use Damus? If you make it worth it I’m sure people would pay a lil bit to use clients, fiat or Bitcoin, especially if it was a good place to earn yourself on the side. I keep asking about how we give a zap percentage to Damus or whatever but still don’t know how to work it. Could someone help me out please?

Do you have any voluntary monthly support option? I think that might be an option, at least worth exploring

Plain btc donations etc. sure... I'm talking about something more explicitly for the Damus project. Maybe even visible in the Damus app somewhere.

Value for value, is a good principle. Likewise is free acess. Easy donations is a middle ground between them.

It reminded me of an interview I saw of an early Facebook employee

He went off to found Pinterest I think, but he essentially designed the ad model for zuck

They had attention just didn’t know how to make money

It strikes me Damus is at a similar point with a different playing field

So the question is: how does a client create so much value people pay?

One idea: create a content scheduling tool

As a content creator I’ve used so many in the past (buffer / hypefury etc)

But none of them could ever post across all the social platforms

Nostr is different. Ofc. But now you take you connections with you

If there was a great client for a content creator I bet they would pay

I would pay! Schedule posts. Remind the type of post you want. Get inspo for more content. Also a connection crm

As a last point, I feel very drawn to the fact Nostr is truth. You can’t delete anything. & you can’t get kicked off. This makes one’s content more honest and also a safe bet long term as creators. This is a huge angle for people like me

Lots of smart, hardworking, giving and creative people on Nostr: let’s whiteboard this thing!

One thing I have been doing after NostrAsia is to learn from people in non-internet industries such as filmmaking, fashion and more. Nostr developers are pretty much all from software industry. The problem is that software industry by itself is basically controlled by big platforms and they have absolutely no incentives to adopt the decentralized model. It’s very hard to win in their home court. Therefore, it’s very hard to migrate/onboard new users from these platforms.

However, other traditional industries don’t care about your technology solutions, it’s a better battle field for decentralization to win.

This is just my hypothesis and maybe decentralization can win there. I will use 2024 to verify.

Just curious, would a monthly/annually subscription like Signal work?

Would be glad to pay. Even if it isn’t the perfect model at first.
