when I preach about AI I'm not selling anything, or saying that everybody and your grandma will be making their own apps one day, or that classical coding is dead.

what I'm trying to say as urgently as I can is that if you're a coder and you're not all in into AI-assisted coding, then I hope you're an irreplaceable genius with some sort of extremely valuable and rare skill

... or you're 100% cooked

I've been coding my entire life. this is by far the biggest change I've witnessed. it's going to rip apart the job market for coders first.

as a colleague I tell you this: if you don't learn to master these new methods today, you're going to be flipping burgers in 5 years. guaranteed.

What I find interesting is the folks who say AI will open up our time so we can make art/music etc. while all the suits lose their jobs.

Curious, as a professional noise maker, where’s everyone getting the income to be an artist, when it’s already a pretty precarious career choice?

One guy the other day said it would free up time for skiing… cool! I like skiing… skiing’s pretty expensive right? Hmmm…

People are naive. They think they'll still be getting paid their usual hours/salary and that they'll just have to work less. Not how the world works. And whatever UBI is going to come out of it, it'll be so totalitarian that skiing is going to be a luxury for the upper ~5%.

Skiing is completely free.

You just have to live somewhere will hills and slow.

Traveling to and staying at some fancy overpriced skii resort is very expensive though
