It’s valuable to learn some basic skills to be able to fix things yourself. Not just basic car maintenance like changing a tire or battery, but also home maintenance - things like fixing a tap, replacing a door lock, repairing a hole in a wall, painting etc. Some basic understanding of electrical circuits and electronics are also great skills to have. Many people have no idea how to do these things now.. nostr:note1hlgxlt5lh3f0lrhme605rj8cexrpp6ml4s4st58wef25pn7jg7ksls9lw8

so much to learn. so little time

The art of teaching yourself new skills is underrated

Agreed, and there are so many great resources to help learn skills now with the Internet. I think a lot of people want to take the easy path though. They don’t want to put in the time and practice needed to learn a new skill, or are afraid of the failures that are always part of the learning process.

💯 don’t be afraid to make mistakes! Gotta keep reminding my self of that!

One of the symptoms of technology and an oil based western lifestyle, is that people have become detached from physical reality. This is fine as long as the music keeps playing. But it looks more and more likely it’s gonna stop.

At that point, being able to build things and fix stuff will be very valuable.
