Sorry, I'm referencing something very specific - I'm definitely not talking about people who genuinely want to help and don't know where to start!
There is someone who is going out of their way to write scripts to attack the network for weeks without ever communicating to devs, and only claiming after the fact (when he feared he was about to be identified) that it was "just to help".

But yes! Lots of devs for both relays and clients have attempted multiple layers of solutions with various degrees of success. I use nostr:npub10qdp2fc9ta6vraczxrcs8prqnv69fru2k6s2dj48gqjcylulmtjsg9arpj and I can't see any of the spam from that guy or his army of bot accounts anymore after Alex added NIP05 + Proof of Work filtering.
