#lists is just about the crucial piece missing from #amethyst to open up nostr to the general public

reason being if we could make a default list of a few 1000 users to use for spam filtering and another few other lists of different types of user feeds it would make the beginning experience in nostr much better

Thats a great idea. Is it in the making?

there is rumblings it sort of is

the idea needs expanding aswell that we trade and colab like wikis on the lists

That is even better. However, switching to a different device/client would be a pain.

switching apps is going to get painful as nostr progresses and has been part of nostr from the beginning, its how the protocol evolves, an app implements and others adopt or not, there will be 'wars' in the future over this, nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx made a post on this nostr:nevent1qqsph40x7jfdlrs2e6v4r4dmu652yswur9tws0vzll2pemerksfccacce97ht

i think nostr librarys will be very important to keeping dev consistent and lively

already i find most apps other than amethyst painful

nostr is replicating evolution

I dont know if I am missing anything, but how is this a feature? People *will* switch to different devices. How will the preferences be switched? Lets say the collab list feature is made, how to make it persistent across devices? I understand an open network wont provide everything and devs have to be creative.

oh so at some point these settings get stored on relays as a specific nip or kind or updated version of such, often the relay app needs to be updated too for it to work

there is already a nip for general lists, i imagine collab will work something like edits applied to the original note for a list

most of your nostr settings or info is already on relays

Wonderful. That makes a lot of sense. Thanks, mate!

welcome

Can definitively see the spam list be a thing.

It's like you're copying someone's homework, and if it starts to become a problem, you can just unsub from the list and look for another person that offers a spam filter list.

Not the most elegant model, but probably one that could work. ^^

exactly we need to go with what works over perceived elegance see nostr:npub16y5986r3c3w84ed49aemm6wvzp59lggqjch7vg552qsqy7pcld2qzvljkl s original ideas for nostr

i see the lists taking a wiki/opensource path with people forking them or curating controlling them

i have had it for a long time idea if we could just have a group we agree with 'moderate' how we like then social media might work better

for me personally that means only hiding spam really, i have no issue with 'hate speech' or other woke shit
