My friend brought up “crypto” last night for the first time.

He knew I was into it and I told him I’m only into bitcoin.

He has $700 in xrp and $150 in btc. It’s pretty much gambling money to him but I still told him he should sell and put it all into btc. He’s a relatively new grad and doesn’t have much money to his name.

His response was that all of the banks are about to use it and it’s going to skyrocket. And that his dad had a significant amount of money in xrp too.

I didn’t lecture him any further.

What’s your response to someone like this other than “xrp is a scam”?

No clue where people find this info about xrp. Must be marketing on some normie platforms I'm not aware of

Many people buy into random crypto crap due to word of mouth. In my previous job, half of the company bought into NFTs thanks to one single Intern shilling it to everyone.

I think it’s this too. He did say he knew a couple guys at his old job that had some.

I guess the most vocal peers are usually new to the space too. Interesting.

He uses robinhood and I think that’s the marketing pitch for it on the app. He probably heard it elsewhere on twitter or a podcast too.

Just let 'em be. sigh

Yeah. That’s where I’m at unfortunately.

👍

Tell him to look up the previous scams.

Big promises and speculation that large institutions will trust one another and agree to use one new unproven system in place of the existing corrupt centralized system.

5 years ago ETH was supposed to be adopted as a CBDC infrastructure.

With Bitcoin, you are the bank.

XRP is part of the failing fiat system Bitcoin is designed to replace

I'm in the same boat with a close friend... I know he has some BTC also, but I'm pretty sure he's got more in XRP and ETH. Same story about banks using XRP. And always the excuse that "BTC is too expensive." 😞

Not possible. 120k vs 3$. Naturally poors buy crap. Evolutionary survival of the fittest needs to happen.

This (and they could probably print more any time they want)

And explain what a 'bag holder' is

Love you, but you’ve bought into a scam. Doesn’t make you a bad person, we all make mistakes.

Their choice.

This is the definition of a stupid person.

No matter what you say - they're convinced you're wrong and they are right.

No hope.
