The more I learn about Bolt 12, the more sceptical I am that it will really solve the primary pain point in Lightning -- that you need to be online to receive a payment, and most normies use phones, which aren't online all the time. Bolt 12 is nice because it allows for "reusable" QR codes, but I'm not convinced that it's THAT much better than what we have already with LNURL and Lightning Addresses. It also adds a lot more potential for fuckups, since messages transmitted through Lightning are generally harder to track & debug when compared to old-school HTTP stuff.

Yup!

It's more trustless since you're not relying on an external server, but as you mention, it has major tradeoffs.

Yes. The trustless thing is good, not needing an HTTP server.

Tho it never said it would solve offline receiving

Cashuu

I thought it was supposed to be better because it's all self contained to lightning. No need to run a website for an address

Right. No need to run a HTTP server, which is great.
