So true - I have become very interested in maintains the things I own. My goal is to one day not own anything I can’t maintain myself.

The corner post was rotted out so I had to Jack up the roof by 1/2 inch, cut out the tossed section and scarf in a new piece. You can see the colour change where I did that. Took a while!

I have the same perspective as you. unfortunately not quite handy enough yet for big work like this but I'm big on clothes mending. It is such a waste to throw out an otherwise good pair of jeans just because it has a hole.

Got to start somewhere. That’s a skill I do not have but my wife just bought a sewing machine so I’ll have a chance to figure it out.

lots of useful sewing can be done by hand too. I find most mending stuff is more easily done by hand.
