How many years out are we from having E-Ink computer screens be commonplace?

I need a new computer.

Do I buy one that will last 8 years or buy one that will last 3 and expect to replace it?

I have a new iPad Pro that has replaced my computer for a lot of the things I use my laptop for. I can hook up a keyboard and a mouse. Even can use RDP or VNC on iPad to get into the graphical interface for my other computers.

This is only reason why I haven’t gotten a DC-1 model yet. I prefer reading actual books rather than on a screen, but I can see get one of these for kids so that they get less blue light exposure.

Buy a C64. It should easily last you another 43 years šŸ˜‚

The newest Mac mini is the best performance you can buy for $600. It punches way above its price

I hope E-Ink becomes more popular. I love reading on my kindle. Would be cool if there was an E-Ink monitor.

Pine64 offers a tablet laptop with an e-ink display, but the refresh rate on it isn't very good, I think. Maybe not bad for writing notes or reading books, but I think it'd be rough at best for video, probably unusuable.
