I often find myself disagreeing with the words coming out of my mouth. I wonder who's ideas are those and why do I repeat them.

I am blessed to have friends to talk to and hear myself, correct me on the fly or later on.

I also wonder if I am alone or is this a common phenomenon.

I do some of this. Part of it might have to do with personality type. My husband being an ENTP has the ability to basically see the blue print and where ideas come from and what they will result in if followed to their end. He sees things like that super easily compared to me, and ENFP. I talk, and then see if I agree with what I just said. Sometimes because he reacts to it and then I adjust, cause sometimes I use a phrase I've learned but he sees the fallacy in it, that I need spelled out. Once I've heard what's behind it, I quickly adapt, but it's a lot harder for me to see through things on my own.

Some things are super common, but once I start thinking about them, what I've observed in reality doesn't align with it, similar to what I think you're talking about.

Like stereotypes of men and women. Maybe some are common, but they're not 100%. Like, my husband never needs help finding something right in front of him, whereas my brother did.

Exactly 💯 this is what I mean. My brother is similar to your husband in that regard, he carefully chooses his words and spells correctly what he thinks about something. I do not always agree with him but that is perfectly fine.

And the second part is that conscience behind my mind watching and judging what I say, you seem to share that too. Like a separate YOU observing what you are doing.

I am curious about that personality test you mentioned, do you have some basic resource for me to explore it?

Not everyone has an inner dialogue apparently, to answer your last statement.

I do this also with my friends. It's really helpful to test out ideas and such. I've heard a good one the other day: you can't know something and believe it at the same time.

As for where do words come from, this is not very clear and there's hardly any consensus about it. What does your gut feeling tell you about it?

That is a very deep question. Where do words come from...? I would say there are a couple of sources for "The voice", I have identified a couple of them myself:

1. The voice of my mother. It always rings when I am about to do something stupid that will put me in danger.

2. The voice of my people. It shouts when I am about to do something morally reprehensible and it thretens with punishment (shame or physical).

3. The voice of my experience. It whispers mostly about my desires, curiosities, invitations to dare or foregoe the current thing.

4. The voice of God. I grew up in a very weird religious cult, there I read, heard and "experience" the magnificence of God, the forgiveness, punishment, miracles and all this Jazz.

I suppose there are more in there, but those are the louder ones in my head. I would assume most of us have something similar and something deeper like evil shit and evolution stuff that I do not understand and cannot detect.

What kind of cult?

It was a variation of christianity, mixed with spirit possesion and african rituals. Weird stuff I tell you.

It's certainly a puzzle where words come from and what is your inner voice or consciousness. Considering when do we first start noticing it when younger?!

The doppelganger has a voice too.

Having an inner voice indicates to me we have a soul and this isnt the prime mover.
