Snort is implementing support for it atm: https://github.com/v0l/snort/pull/394
Discussion
You can try it in https://badges.snort-social.pages.dev/ just displaying then in profile for now
someone pointed me at badges a few weeks ago, but i haven’t seen much movement until now towards implementations, are there differing opinions on how it should work?
Not that I know of. The NIP is merged so I guess it’s finished for now?
cool. seems like an important foundation for strengthening identities/graph so i’m pretty excited to see how we use it
Try https://badges.page and let me know what you think 😊
not sure the relevance of times awarded as it is as times a badge manager has updated the list, would much prefer the number of awardees.
added a list of awards in badge detail page, you'll be able to see the people that got the badge from there now
And is there a bug in claiming the badges? Because I can‘t
How did you log in? Extension?
Tried it on iOS with the new „Nostore“ but as its new i thought this was the issue. So itried Chrome on the Macbook with Alby. Same result. I see the badges, accept them, but after refreshing they are not „accepted“ anymore
I set up a badge to play and awarded it to myself and #[5] via our npubs. Do we have to accept/approve the badge for it to link? Where would we expect it to render on Snort?
sorry, I haven’t read the spec recently, but you can “RTFM me” if appropriate :P
Yes, you need to accept it for it to be added to your profile. It still won't show in snort but PR is up so will be out soon!
ah, I see…
and if I created it and awarded it to myself I don’t have to accept it? I notice it shows up in my created tab, but not my awarded tab. Maybe that’s specific to the creator of the badge?
Send one to me #[6] I’ll be your Guinea pig lol
mm i can see it in your awarded tab, in any case i'll probably be hiding badges awarded to yourself on the UI
Currently I see it hidden in my awarded tab and visible in my created tab

though it’s entirely possible I screwed something up? 😝
Well, anyone can issue badges so not sure it makes it easier for strengthening identities/graphs? I’m no expert on social graphs etc so I might oversee something here.
for example, if you know/trust someone and they have awarded (accepted?) a badge to (from?) other people you don’t know there might be some transference of trust?
Maybe but I gift my “GM’ers” badge to anyone writing gm notes. So if you made a social graph based on that badge, you’d have to trust many people I don’t necessarily trust.
well, it’s not like default trust for everything at all times. Always context dependent, right? If you do something that looks hacky/spammy I should prob use my judgment to try to understand what you’re indicating.
Thanks!
