I've Got a Question regarding the #coinbase API.

Maybe someone can clear things up for me.

This Coinbase API endpoint : https://api.coinbase.com/v2/exchange-rates?currency=BTC

Is publishing exchange rates vs #bitcoin.

It has a pair BTC/ERN at 1/13166.

"ERN" is an ISO code used by the Nakfa (Currency of Eritrea).

How come they are publishing this pair (BTC/ERN) but instead of using the currency ISO country code for eritrea they are using 'ERN' shitcoin "Ethernity chain".

How is that allowed ? Is this a possibility to recycle any country's currency ISO codes ?

Worst part is they are mixing the values, sometime it is advert as "ethernity chain", sometimes the currency of eritrea, the Nakfa :
