I think iPods that looked kind of like old iPhones came out in 2001 and the phone version in 2004. And people just know they were playing with something like that in 2001 and assume it was the iPhone.
Wasn't it 2008 or so?
People also agree that communism is still a good idea, so I don't really have much faith in people's memories.
I thought it was 2008, but I just looked it up and it was summer of 2007
