I really would love to rebuild #bandcamp based on #nostr. I have no idea where to start or if it's even possible though 😄

But I see a lot of opportunity to create a really independent place for artists to share their music and let people buy it via lightning.

If there was a smaller cut than Bandcamp takes (have to look it up lol) and no exclusivity (like artists can use this just as an additional outlet) I think there could be a chance to get some musicians onboarded.

I could invest some time into building a frontend, but I don't know about the backend that would be needed.

Do you know if that even would be possible?

Like a mutation of nostr marketplaces or sth, I don't have a clue. 😄

Just thinking out loud.

The media storage is still the problem.

Some time ago I thought nostr+torrent(-like protocol) would work for this kind of use by now, but it's either not that great solution or people are still sleeping on it. Imagine streams that are encrypted and only unlocked with a zap.

Storage was my biggest question mark, too. Torrent sounds like a nice solution as long as seeds are guaranteed (part of the platform then I suppose)

Yep, but also I think the artists would keep seeding their music, so it's always available. And with zaps it would probably pay for itself. At least the popular stuff would.

seems possible, do it

It exists already. It's called lnbeats.com.

People are self hosting all sorts of music and getting boosts.

Also bandcamp is awesome. Best place to buy cassettes imho.

Ooh, thank you! Bandcamp is always the first place for me, too. Pretty much all of my recent music collection happened there.

Too bad most folks have been spotified.. that "service" is pure cancer imo

Isn't wavlake kinda like this?

Start it and we’ll help finish 🙂
