If you don’t already know, you can connect a radio to a computer and send data, emails, sms etc. You can even do this with the lowest level of licensing which 10 year old children can easily pass the test.

I would recommend you start learning first so that we can get you a radio that will serve the purposes you intend to. Major internet stores like Amazon sell radios, there are also ham specific shops, ham radio outlet, randl .com and many others.

Ok, so I checked out the youtube video. It is simple indeed. Bitcoin is simple, too. I am super grateful to Satoshi Nakamoto and you guys for inventing these things. But I am going to sit out any internet downtime even if it takes years.
I mean, while there is no internet, what am I gonna spend my bitcoin on? Other than food and heat, there is nothing else I need. And I have got both of them for the rest of my life. So. Sitting this one out.
If someone comes and asks me for a favor, I might move a finger then. But nobody came yet, and I don't need this for myself.

It is possible. There are rules about commercial use of ham radio spectrum in many jurisdictions including the US. The key thing about “ham radio” is you can gain the skills in things like transmitting data that can be used on the other parts of the radio spectrum that would allow it. If you see this example, note how they point out :
“This example had no pecuniary value, it is simply a proof of concept.”
