What excites me the most about Nostr is that we now have a protocol from which we can build literal killer apps.

The internet was suppose to be free, and only over the last 30 years did it become walled off and enslaved to corporate and government interesting alike. I want to see us build each and every FOSS app possible to compete with and destroy the corporate apps, as our data is ours, and it should no longer be free for the raping and pillaging for fiat companies, with fiat interest, and fiat lords who are more than happy to sell you out to whomever they please.

I’m here to watch the old internet die as much as I’m here to watch the new one we are birthing together.

Burn it to the ground.

It’s going to be glorious 🔥

Let's rebuild on a #value4value model, users must not be the product!

Onward and upwards!

STAY HUMBLE AND STACK ZAPS

I remember dialing up in 1994 when the internet enabled any entity - from General Electric and Sears Robuck to the corner store and even individual citizens like me - have a website. The internet was pretty flat and evenly distributed.

Then Google appeared around 1998, Facebook around 2004, YouTube 2005, Twitter 2007…gradually a handful of corporatized destinations became the internet.

The hope and vision now is that protocols like Nostr and sovereign personal servers (that are user-friendly and plug and play) all glued together by the economic stack that is bitcoin, will decentralize the internet again.

Great post. Gained a follower 👍

I almost wrote something similar, but this is pretty much how I see it.

The world they created isn't working and isn't worth saving. We must replace it from the ground up with morals and principles baked in.

Were the cypherpunks too optimistic about the protocol stack at the time, specifically because they didn’t have a Bitcoin and a Nostr? They thought the Internet would be FOSS and private, but instead they got Google and Facebook. Do we need even more protocols than we think we do for the dream, just like they did, or is this about it?

They were naive, but also we needed to go through the cycle of its commercialization to see how awful and abusive it was to create a generation of people who are cynical enough about it to see it for the reality it is. We needed something like bitcoin to allow for market exchange outside of the state to create development without state identity imho.

🎯

This is the way! We’re building healthcare apps on Nostr nostr:npub1healthsx3swcgtknff7zwpg8aj2q7h49zecul5rz490f6z2zp59qnfvp8p to do just that

Nice piece

🤜🤛

want a true private note taking app, using giftwrapped notes I can share with only self and other npubs
