If you actually have a patient conversation with someone about this, they'll often say that they would pay voluntary taxes because they believe in the services offered. ..but all you have to do is paint a picture where their democratic system elected a government that they completely disagree with on a deep ethical level, and their tune changes real fast to "well we can't let that happen" and they start sounding like tyrants real fast.
