avocado oil is flavorless. I've used it for brownies. and it just so happens that the only mayo at my grocery store that doesn't contain sneed oil is using avocado oil. you can also use avocado oil for high temperature applications and it even comes as a cooking spray. great for waffle irons. but it would be very expensive for deep frying. I still use peanut oil for deep frying. never tried tallow or lard though.

Isn't avocado oil really expensive? Price is also a factor in which ingredients I use. I also use peanut oil for deep frying because of its tolerance for high heat. Some people use vegetable oil, but I've always used the peanut oil. I keep telling myself that I'm going to get some beef tallow for some awesome french fries, but I haven't done it yet. Given the high amount of saturated fat, I have to be careful about how often I consume tallow (family history of heart disease). Next time I'm at the store I'll grab a bottle of avocado oil and give it a shot. Is it flavor-neutral? I'm not generally a fan of avocados.
Sorry, I somehow missed the first sentence of your reply. Doh!
