Mountain ranges take millions of years to form (15-20 million) for Japan, yet you drive around and see them right there in front of you. It’s hard to grasp the time scales involved and just how little time we’ve been around. Humans have existed only for 0.27% of the time it took to form Japan and 0.01% of total geological history.

Imagine what 1% looks like 🤨

But also eg paying rent for 12 months. Omg that looks like a lot, but it’s so hard to calculate in 12 months how wealthy you will be or feel, and often that economic calculation is wrong
