that would be incredible kind, but there’s so many more incredible people and projects deserving of these funds 🙏💜

That would be awesome for Tanel, but this is pointing to a bigger problem, and it’s the reason I am still on twttr as well. Many of my followers, and

many (most?) people globally live in areas with expensive data/internet and/or are priced out of high-storage smart phones.

While I realize the latter doesn’t matter as much, since many nostr clients are browser based, the expensive data prevents them from even using nostr online..

Curious to hear anyone’s thoughts on this. I believe I read a while back that devs are working on ways to reduce nostr data usage, and I assume connecting to less relays helps?

Absolutely. Next release of yana is in the works, and will feature an outbox model which will fetch notes from your contacts only from a small number (configurable) of relays. And also will cache recent events on local db, taking special care not to let it bloat out of proportion like other clients. It's a fine line to find the best balance between network data usage and device storage but I agree it is very important for people with restricted data plans and older devices with limited storage in less privileged places in the world. So it will be our focus developing it.
