It's funny how users complain when devs criticize other devs' work, and are all

YOU ALL NEED TO GET ALONG. EVERYONE'S CODE IS BEAUTIFUL, IN ITS OWN WAY. ☮️✌🏻🕊️🙏🏻🫂🤗

If I never thought someone else's work was lacking, I would never be motivated to produce something different.

There's also a difference between constructive and nonconstructive criticism.

But many people are too agreeable or have not learned how to properly discipher any kind of confrontation. Even when it is not aimed at them.

Disagreeableness and critique seems to me to be two essential parts of free market competition.

Because Nostr kind 01 is devs discussing in front of users, technical discussions often turn into a popularity contest, rather than dialectic, as soon as someone with a lot of follows involved. They arrive with an army of bodyguards and cheerleaders, who act like a sort of peanut gallery.

And some of the most popular devs have never had anyone question any decision they make, so they immediately freak out and often hit the mute. They confuse "having a lot of followers", with "having a good idea".

This problem doesn't exist in real life development teams. There, there are 7 people in the telco or standing in the room, and if someone asks you a technical question, you have to respond calmly.

The difference, in real life, is that the other 6 people in the room are interested in hearing the answer.

That isn't the case, here. Developers have groupies and they just cheer everything they say and boo everyone else and have a meltdown when there's a disagreement.

Software development, but make it hysterical.

Makes me feel like the only man in the room, sometimes.

yeah, it makes me unpopular being on the wrong side against someone more popular who is wrong

my favourite people are the ones with the least manners tho, because they don't have groupies they actually want to thrash out an answer

Their obliviousness to the stupidity of their groupthink mentality is enough hilarity for me😁.

Dancing around their golden coder.
